With ₹12.06 crores on the first day, Student Of The Year 2 has become Tiger’s second highest opener till date after 2018 released film Baaghi 2 which collected ₹25. 10 crores. SOTY 2 is also this year’s fifth biggest opener after Kalank, Kesari, Gully Boy, and Total Dhamaal.
SOTY 2 is being praised for the performance given by Tiger Shroff and not for the unrealistic story and larger than life plot. The film is the sequel to Karan Johar’s 2012 film Student Of The Year which marked the debut of Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan, and Alia Bhatt.
As it was the sequel of SOTY catchy music were expected like Radha, Vele, The Disco Song, Ishq Wala Love but it failed to create that charm and the music was very average.
